How are you?
Did you skim past that question or did you actually stop and consider how you are? If you skimmed past, take this as an opportunity to stop and really notice how you are & what do you need?
I wanted to write about something I feel is currently being viewed or perceived as ‘wrong’ and that is anxiety. There are all sorts of articles in the press about how anxiety rates have sky rocketed since covid, there are apparently much higher rates of anxiety ‘diagnoses’ and the general feel I’m getting is that this is somehow ‘wrong’.
Let’s just stop for a moment and think about that….
Anxiety is a completely normal bodily response to something uncertain in the future. Well, for the past 2.5 years we have all been living with huge uncertainty and so to me anxiety is a perfectly normal response to our lives recently.
Don’t get me wrong, life is always uncertain, always, we just normally feel that we have a little more control than we have had in the past couple of years.
So I wanted to let you know that if you’re experiencing more anxiety or have started experiencing it fairly recently, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. Your body and mind are responding in a completely normal way. It’s doing what it’s designed to do, to keep you safe.
The way forward is not to label yourself as ‘having’ anxiety or to tell yourself there’s something wrong with you, it’s to support yourself to perceive uncertainty in a different way, to connect and learn from your emotions and to create a feeling of safety in your body.
If you’d like some help to do that, a great place to start would be my ‘Learning to Let Go of Anxiety’ online course which you can find out more about here.
Also, if you’re not already a member, you can join my FREE private Facebook group for women here.
And finally, if you’d like some 1:1 support, I have one space coming available next week, simply click here to book a FREE chat to see if we’d be a good match to work together.
Take care,
