This past weekend, we went along to a Buddhist temple out of curiosity. The thing that stayed with me the most, despite it already being something I believe was when the monk giving the teaching said: “Everyone wants to be happy, and the meaning of happiness is a peaceful mind. Our lives have quietly become a collection of unhelpful behaviours. Not because we’re broken or lazy, but because we’re trying to avoid feeling uncomfortable emotions. In a recent reel that I saw of two guys chatting, I heard something that made me pause: “I wonder how many people I’ve looked at all my life and never seen?” One of them then referred to a quote by Abraham Lincoln, “I do not like that man.
